Mr. Almasin graduated from the University of Hawaii at Hilo with a degree in Political Science. He taught middle school in Hawaii and high school at Prospect High School for five years. Currently, he is teaching in a private school in Fremont. This will be his 10th summer with the College 4 Kids program, after taking a break for 2 summers. Mr. Almasin is passionate about bringing real world business experience to the classroom. He believes teaching kids basic economic concepts is the first step toward successful financial planning in the future.

Mr. Baugh graduated from CSU East Bay in 2004 with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Political Science. He has been teaching middle school math for the past eight years and worked before that as a substitute teacher. Mr. Baugh believes in making math fun while demonstrating the relevance of applying abstract concepts. He has also worked as a trainer and support provider of new teachers, as well as aspiring to be a writer for the education profession. Mr. Baugh believes in helping students realize that math exists in everything we do and reaching their potential.

Mr. Chin has been an instructor for the College 4 Kids program since 2006, teaching many of the digital media classes from Digital Photography to Filmmaking. In between teaching and media production jobs, Mr. Chin is also an independent filmmaker with a degree in computer animation, whose films have been shown at different film festivals. In addition, his plays have won 1st place at the Kaucher-Mitchell Playwriting Festival at San Jose State and placed in the top 100 of the Walt Disney Fellowship Program. He has worked for Sun Microsystems creating their corporate training videos and flash multimedia presentations. Mr. Chin has taught filmmaking at Mount Pleasant High School and continues to be a part-time instructor for the Digital Media department at West Valley College.

Claire grew up in the small peninsula town called San Carlos. She received my Bachelor’s degree in English from UCLA and Master’s degree in Education and Teaching Credential from UCSC. Ms. Kolling played soccer for 14 years, and has experience in sports such as baseball, softball, swimming, gymnastics, volleyball, cheerleading, badminton, basketball, and ice skating. Her hobbies and interests involve singing (especially in the car), creative writing, watching movies and adding them to my 300+ DVD collection, Ninjutsu, and more!

Ms. Madrigal was born and raised in San Jose, CA. She graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and a minor in Chicano Studies. She began working with children in 2009 and has taught Common Core math for the past three years. She currently teaches junior high math and provides math support for grades K-5 at a private Catholic school in Hayward.

Daniel Negrete

Daniel was born in San Jose and raised in a family of educators.  He received his Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology with the plan of becoming a Physical Therapist.  He changed careers and found a passion for fitness and teaching adolescents.  After of a few years of substitute teaching he enrolled at The National Hispanic University to earn his Credential in Physical Education.  While Daniel subbed and attended school he got his Personal Training Certification.  He has trained with Fitness Integrated Training in Evergreen, taught Boot Camps at YAHOO, and LinkedIn and enjoys informing people about health and wellness.

Daniel has been teaching Middle School Physical Education for the past two years in both the Mountain View and Alum Rock areas.  He has coached Cross Country, Soccer, and Track and Field.  His passion is teaching kids skills, health, wellness, and life-long fitness.  Daniel also loves to challenge his students with dance moves and activities that are going to make them more confident in society.

Laura Oliver’s teaching career began sixteen years ago as a poet in the schools where she taught poetry writing in public school classrooms for the city of Palo Alto’s Cultural Kaleidoscope, the San Francisco Arts Education Project, and Tapestry Arts of San Jose. For ten years, Ms. Oliver taught the popular Journalism Writing class for the De Anza Extended Year Summer Enrichment Program in Cupertino. Year-round, Ms. Oliver teaches writing privately to youth in Silicon Valley. She is a published and performing poet and holds an MFA in Poetics and Writing.

Elliot was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and now resides within the city of Campbell. He received a Bachelors degree in History from Cal State University East Bay, with an emphasis in United States History. He is a founding member of The Easily Distracted Theatre, which produced a variety of live stage performances, award winning short films, and community outreach projects based on the idea of expressing oneself through art. He is currently working as a substitute teacher in the East Side and San Jose Unified school districts.

Born in Munich, Germany, Sofie graduated from Zürcher Hochschule der Künste (ZHdK) / art college in Zurich, Switzerland and then moved to the Bay Area.

She has created over 25 public art projects in California, Nevada and Germany, and taught art and dance to students from all ages and backgrounds. She also teaches STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math)-infused art classes at the Richmond Art Center. She regularly exhibits her paintings and sculptures worldwide.

Jennifer Webb

Going Green, Speech and Debate

Jennifer is a former high school English and drama teacher, and she has worked as a substitute teacher, grades K-12, for more than ten years. Working with students in, Loma Prieta, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell and Cupertino schools has enabled her to gain a good understanding of their interests, as well as how to lead and connect with them. As an involved role-model on campuses and in the community, Jennifer was Assistant Director for A Place for Teens teen center, and she organized a peer-counseling group on a high school campus. She also established a student mentor and tutoring group in order to help high school freshmen succeed in their transition to high school. Throughout her years working with young people, her passion has always been to help students recognize their true potential to reach their goals and dreams. In previous summers, Jennifer has taught various subjects and grade levels with Los Gatos-Saratoga Recreation Department Summer Enrichment Program, as well as our own. This summer, she is excited to teach Speech and Debate, as well as Going Green.
